I'm using KDE on CentOS 7 on one machine and KDE on Kubuntu 16.04 on another.

In both cases I've set Alt-Shift to switch keyboard layout. However, in Kubuntu Alt-Shift-XXX is still free: I can make use of Alt-Shift-5 [aka Alt-%] in Emacs and Alt-Shift-o [aka Alt-O] in Krusader, where as in CentOS all app-specific shortcuts featuring Alt-Shift are broken.

I need help to research into this issue.

I recently had an issue where my computer was unusable, and hard drive was always at 100%, so I tested the hard drive, and sure enough, it said something along the lines of "too many failures", which I assumed to mean my hard drive was crashing, and being 7 years old, I assumed it was true.

So I just bought a new WD Black 1TB drive. I had some trouble installing Windows, which seemed like it may have been another HD issue, but on the 3rd try, it finally installed (I had to disconnect my 2nd drive). I got it up and working, and it's been fine for around 3 weeks of low usage, but now it's showing the same symptoms as the first drive. 100% usage in task manager, but my individual processes are sometimes showing 0.1 MB/s or less with 100% disk usage. I can't get perfomance monitor to come up, as windows is pretty much unusable and it takes 5+ minutes to get the start menu and other things to work.

It seems unlikely that the same systems across hard drives would show up. Can someone guess as to whether this is an issue with the SATA cable, or is this an issue on the motherboard? My 2nd drive with pictures and other files does not seem to have a problem.

I am trying to get any information from a picture. I need the date, name of the person who took it or anything. I am trying to use some metadata checkers but they just show me the resolution and type of file jpg/jpeg. Any ideas? I have even tried tools like exiv2 and photoshop without any results.

this is not that critical, but since it has been bugging me for 2 years now, I'll ask.

I am a programmer, and I'm running a Grails compiler in Windows Command Prompt. When I need to terminate a process in cmd, I hit Ctrl + C. It will prompt me a confirmation message saying "Terminate Batch Job (Y/N)". There are times I just pressed those keys, but will change my mind, so I will choose to cancel the termination of the batch job. But it will always terminate even if I choose "N". In fact, it will terminate both on any character!!

It also happened when I try to stop other batches. I'm wondering what has happened. Some sort of virus, maybe?

I've been having a recent problem lately with my CPU usage. It's literally always around 90%-100% but in task manager under 'user' it says differently. Even when I do a rough calculation of the processes, they don't add up to what task manager or performance monitor (Advanced System Care) says it is. What's going on? Screenshot

So what does it mean? That email account is deleted or what? I mean how come so quickly and can we delete our mailboxes for good?

On Linux (preferably in the command line), how can I view network usage per process?

I'm not interested in total bandwith usage, but rather in how it's split among processes.

When I connect to the Microsoft's cloud web using a web browser:

I do not see a folder RSS Feeds under my e-mail account. The same happens when I connect using Outlook 2013 desktop app. However other colleagues can see this folder both using web browser and Outlook 2013.

How to recreate this folder, so that I can use it, on my outlook.office365.com account?

I have to share some Microsoft Office 365 documents (word, excel) with others. I want them to be strictly read-only..

I share them through the company OneDrive (which came with Office 365 subscription).

Can it be done?

EDIT : I need to use the same file for editing by myself in the same place (ie avoiding storing original copy somewhere else)

I need to periodically restart onedrive.exe, and I believe a Scheduled Task is appropriate for this problem to kill and then start the process.

However, when onedrive.exe starts this way, I get the welcome message in my notification bar, as well as the OneDrive folder opens, which I would like to avoid. How could I start onedrive.exe in "silent mode"? Is there a command line parameter for this? Documentation is really lacking on this one.

How could I start onedrive.exe so that the welcome message and OneDrive folder do not open as well?

I have following patte in every single cell in the coloumn in Libre Calc -

I'm considering building a new PC. I'm not going to jump into this generation of consumer VR hardware, but the next set might have me.

Can I build something now, or in the next few months if it's worth waiting for a particular hardware release, that should see me through the next few years of consumer VR advancement?

I need to configure a Ubuntu 16.04 Linux system such that it withstands being hard powered-off regularly.

For regular operation there's basically no writing going on, so a read-only file system might be an option. However for things like remote access with TeamViewer I could imagine that this might lead to problems. I've tried read only for something else in the past and it lead to some unexpected issues.

This system isn't life-critical, so a 99.0% safety is enough and right now it's more important to get it done in a simple way.

What simple options are there?

First diagnostics showed the following error:

windows socket registry entries missing

Then I have removed the registry entries and reinstalled them by downloading and ran the following command:

netsh winsock reset

Now, the diagnostics shows different error:

What could be the reason?

I am trying to setup Windows 10 Education for my domain and am having issues with the search bar. I have locked down the All Apps section and use a redirected desktop to a UNC share for the application shortcuts. However, I want the users to be able to use the basic search. I have tued off cortana and web search via GPO and I have set the "Remove Run Menu from Start Menu" GPO to enabled. Which does prevent UNC share access in an open Window and C: access but if you place C: or a UNC share path into the Windows 10 search on the task bar you still have access.

At present I have local My documents folder because they use large applications like Photoshop CC and it works better when running from the local My documents and then copying to a networked home folder when they are finished. I have denied access to the C: under the GPO for User Config → Admin Temp → Windows Components → File Explorer → "Prevent access to drives from My Computer" but whilst this stops all access to C: it then means you cant use local My documents and sadly UNC paths are still able to be browsed to through the search.

Has anyone come across this issue so far. I have tried looking at blogs and Google searches but the only stuff out there points to the GPO's I have already mentioned which don't stop UNC from search.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have a Surface which is connected through Wi-Fi, but I also have LTE on it, which is much faster than my wifi network.

When downloading or streaming movies, it takes so long through wifi, I wondered if it's possible to get Windows 10 to download files that are over 100mb simultaneously with Wifi & 4G?

I have tried anything yet as I don't know if I need to install extra software or if I will have to do some network adapter tweaking.

We just newly bought Synology 716+II NAS Storage, All went well but problem came when I want to join the NAS to our Domain. The thing is, The DSM shows "Failed to join the Domain" but when I go to our DC Server, I can already see the Hostname of the NAS there.

Is there anyone already experience the same and managed to solved the problem?
